2021 Socially distant march for mammograms
Celebrating the completion of the #Mile100, the BarbaraCares Foundation hosts our annual March For Mammograms event May 01, 21 before Mother's Day. We were honored this year to have Fort Worth's Mayor, Betsy Price to provide opening remarks and to kick off our race. This special community fun run/walk is designed to raise both awareness and dollars to support Texans in need of life-saving mammograms. Funds provide mammogram screenings and supportive services for those that qualify here in the State of Texas. In partnership with several agencies, the BarbaraCares Foundation will cover the costs associated with these screenings in an effort to help saves lives through early detection. #MammogramsMatter #MarchEverywhereForEveryone
2021 covid report
After months of targeted outreach during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, the BarbaraCares Foundation has released their 2021 COVID report. These findings underscore ongoing work needed to address both health conditions and disparities in marginalized communities across North Texas.
The aim of this effort was chiefly to save lives for health compromised individuals-including breast cancer patients through expanded access to PPE within communities unable to secure vital equipment needed to stay safe. Post outreach emphasis will consist of providing additional resources for the top ten zip codes with the highest numbers to address underlying health conditions of residents. Through collaboration with other specific NPO's we will tackle the rising numbers to promote overall continual health and wellness.

2021 back2school ~ back2health
In partnership with the Morning Star Prayer Center, BarbaraCares joined forces for their Back2School ~ Back2Health community event. This outreach effort was two-fold. Residents were able to receive vital supplies needed for the upcoming school year including backpacks, school supplies, haircuts for the children, and additional items for the home. BarbaraCares through the extension of our Care2Fight Mammograms Matter Health Initiative distributed breast cancer risk assessments to every attendee, signed up women for free mammogram screenings, conducted onsite surveys, provided free PPE to help keep residents safe as COVID numbers rise, and invited all participants to our upcoming Care2Fight Health & Wellness Fair in October. Additional resources were also available onsite including Texas CEAL to answer questions and address concerns surrounding the COVID vaccine. Today's outreach assisted 104 families representing 253 individuals.
