project summary overview
The Mammograms Matter Health Initiative addresses the Centers for Disease Control’s Social Determinants of Health for at-risk individuals, cancer patients, cancer survivors, and caregivers within communities of color here in Tarrant County. We reduce the impact of breast cancer locally by emphasizing the importance of breast cancer awareness and education, especially for a community and group of individuals who have been historically marginalized which has led to worse health and cancer outcomes.
Meet Our Team
The Mammograms Matter Health Initiative relies on several important personnel to ensure the execution of objectives and proper dissemination of information to local community stakeholders and residents in the targeted area. These roles are vital to the effectiveness of the program and the communities we hope to serve. The Project Manager will plan, manage, and execute the initiative to ensure all benchmarks are met. The Medical Professional will serve as the subject matter expert; their expertise and background as a breast surgeon will be used to facilitate the health literacy education sessions and bring in additional speakers as needed. The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for data entry, community engagement, and enrollment of residents for screenings and the health literacy forums. This position will also build rapport with city leaders and community stakeholders, introduce BarbaraCares, and offer ways of collaboration to address health disparities.
